It is challenging but it's also so much fun to spot the vibe in the streets and to snap spontaneously as you wander around. What I like most about street photography is that you can work with quickly with minimal equipment and, when done well, it can reflect the sense of the era and the character of the place you are photographing...

最近、ストリートフォトグラフィーに戻りつつあります。
ロンドンにいた頃は、カメラ片手にフラフラと、地下鉄の駅でいうと数駅分くらい、よく歩いては写真を撮っていました。そうしたなかで、被写体になるものを見落とさない感覚が鍛えられたし、とっさにシャッターを切る判断力も身に付きました。
街撮りは機材も最小限でいいし、行動的な感じが好きです。ストリートにはその地の特徴とその時代を反映させるものが必ずあります。それは建物やファッションという視覚的情報はもちろんですが、その場の匂いや音などの五感全てに作用する何かがあります。一枚の写真に、様々な感覚を刺激する要素まで写し撮れるようになりたいものです。。。
